Topic: Rationale & Experience with Synthetic Grafts: Past, Present & Future

Synthetic grafts have progressed from early experimental constructs to mature, evidence‑based solutions, and devices,  now supported by reproducible biomechanical data and refined surgical technique. In this session, the presenting surgeon will also share his direct clinical experience with synthetic ligaments — illustrating where they add value, how they perform in challenging indications, and how their role is evolving within contemporary reconstruction strategies.

Neil Jain is Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in sports injuries, with a particular focus on knee and shoulder arthroscopy. He is Vice President of the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma & Arthroscopy Association (BOSTAA), an International Committee Member of AANA, and the first UK surgeon recognised as an ESSKA-trained and approved ACL surgeon. He holds diplomas in Sports Medicine from the International Olympic Committee and in Football Medicine from FIFA, and has extensive experience working with elite athletes and professional sports teams. His international sports medicine work includes providing medical support at the Olympic Games in rugby sevens and hockey, as well as at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford and an active researcher in sports injuries and orthopaedic surgery.
